Kids on Guitar (Beginning)
Age Group: 7 – 9 yrs

In this 6 week class you will learn to play songs on the guitar right away. Students receive a guitar course book and learn from three irresistible guitar experts – a clever, classical dog, one cool jazz cat, and a friendly alligator who loves the blues. Get ready to take your first, best step toward a lifetime of musical enjoyment! We recommend young students have a properly fitted guitar for their size. One quarter, half, and three quarter size guitars are available for sale at the studio. Classes meet weekly for 6 weeks.
Age Group: 10 – 12 yrs

Come along and learn to play your favorite melodies and styles on the guitar. Have fun with the guitar while learning to play right away. Students will learn all the notes in the first position and chords (including the principal major, minor and dominant seventh types). In addition, you will learn pick style guitar by playing folk and popular songs as well as improvising in a rock style. Students will use a method book with other supplementary handouts and materials provided by the instructor. We recommend young students have a properly fitted guitar for their size. One quarter, half, and three quarter size guitars are available for sale at the studio. Classes meet weekly for 6 weeks.
Teens on Guitar (Beginning)
Age Group: 13 – 17 yrs

This class gives beginning players a solid foundation in learning to play guitar. From proper technique in holding the instrument through finger picking and strumming, students will learn many of the most notable riffs and hooks used in the rock and roll guitar and folk repertoires. Students will also learn to read notes, tablature, and chord diagrams to get you started. Additionally, you will learn position playing and improvisation and how to play the guitar creatively. Each student will use a method book for learning note reading, and the instructor will provide participants with supplementary notes and materials. Classes meet weekly for 6 weeks.
Adults on Guitar (Beginning)
Age Group: Adult

Learn to quickly play chords and melodies on the guitar. This course will teach you how to play various pieces including folk music, rock and roll, and Latin styles using both the right-hand fingers and the pick. We will learn note reading, tablature, and chord diagrams to get you started. You will be introduced to the notes in the first position, transferable scales, and blues patterns while learning fingerboard logic and how this knowledge applies to position playing. Each student will use a method book for learning note reading and everyone will be provided with supplementary notes and materials by the instructor. Classes meet weekly for 6 weeks.
